ZIRO
☀️ ZIRO ASA Filament 1.75mm – 1kg
Pickup currently unavailable at Filamigo
ZIRO ASA is designed for prints that require improved resistance to sunlight, outdoor weather and elevated temperatures compared with standard PLA.
ASA—Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate—is commonly selected for outdoor housings, brackets, fixtures, prototypes and other parts that may be exposed to UV light or changing weather conditions.
It offers a clean, low-gloss finish and properties similar to ABS, with improved resistance to prolonged sunlight exposure.
🌤️ Suitable for Outdoor Applications
ASA is a practical material for projects where PLA may soften, fade or deteriorate too quickly.
Common applications include:
☀️ Outdoor fixtures and accessories
🏡 Garden and landscaping projects
📦 Equipment housings and enclosures
🚗 Non-critical automotive accessories
🔧 Brackets, mounts and workshop parts
📡 Outdoor electronics housings
🛠️ Functional prototypes
✔ Good resistance to UV exposure
✔ Suitable for many outdoor applications
✔ Better heat resistance than standard PLA
✔ Clean, low-gloss surface finish
✔ Good dimensional stability when printed correctly
Please note: Outdoor life will depend on the printed design, wall thickness, orientation, colour, environmental conditions and mechanical load. ASA prints should not automatically be considered suitable for safety-critical or heavily loaded applications.
⚠️ Important Printing-Fume Warning
Printing ASA at high temperatures can release volatile organic compounds, including styrene, and ultrafine particles.
ASA should not be printed in an unventilated or continuously occupied room.
For safer use:
✔ Operate the printer in a dedicated, well-ventilated area
✔ Use an enclosed printer where possible
✔ Preferably exhaust enclosure air safely outdoors
✔ Keep children and pets away from the printing area
✔ Avoid printing in bedrooms, living rooms, classrooms or small enclosed offices
✔ Allow the enclosure and room air to clear before opening the printer
Where an air-filtration system is used:
-Activated carbon filtration may help reduce VOCs and odours.
- HEPA filtration may help capture airborne particles.
- Filtration should not be treated as a substitute for adequate ventilation or outdoor exhaust.
- An enclosure helps maintain printing temperature and contain emissions, but a sealed enclosure by itself does not remove fumes.
Stop printing and move to fresh air if fumes cause eye, nose or throat irritation, headache, dizziness, nausea or unusual discomfort. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
Always review your printer manufacturer’s safety instructions and the filament Safety Data Sheet where available.
🔥 Printing Requirements
ASA is more demanding to print than PLA and is prone to warping if it cools unevenly.
For best results:
✔ Use an enclosed printer
✔ Keep the printer away from cold airflow and drafts
✔ Use a suitable build surface and bed adhesive where required
✔ Allow the part to cool gradually before removing it
✔ Ensure your printer is rated for the required temperatures
🌡️ Suggested Starting Settings
Nozzle temperature: 240–260°C
Bed temperature: 90–110°C
Print speed: 30–80mm/s
Cooling fan: Low or off for most layers
Printer enclosure: Strongly recommended
These settings are a starting point only. The ideal settings may vary between printers, colours, build surfaces and model geometry.
🎯 Consistent 1.75mm Filament
ZIRO ASA is produced with controlled filament dimensions to support consistent feeding and extrusion.
📏 Filament diameter: 1.75mm
⚖️ Net filament weight: 1kg
🧵 Neatly Wound & Sealed for Storage
ZIRO filament is neatly wound and sealed to help protect it during transport and storage.
✔ Neatly wound for smoother feeding
✔ Vacuum sealed with desiccant
✔ Supplied on a reusable plastic spool
ASA can absorb moisture from the air. Store the filament sealed with desiccant when it is not being used. Dry the filament before printing if you experience popping, excessive stringing, rough surfaces or inconsistent extrusion.
🖨️ Printer Compatibility
Suitable for many open-material 1.75mm FDM/FFF printers capable of safely reaching ASA printing temperatures.
Before purchasing, confirm that your printer:
✔ Can reach the required nozzle and bed temperatures
✔ Has a suitable high-temperature build surface
✔ Can be operated in a properly ventilated location
✔ Is enclosed or can maintain a stable printing environment
Open-frame printers may have difficulty producing larger ASA parts because of warping and uneven cooling.
